Frequently asked questions about OCR

Which file formats does the OCR service support?

PNG, JPG, WEBP, BMP, and TIFF images up to 10 MB. These limits match the current production recognition API.

How accurate is OCR for Russian text?

Accuracy depends on the source image quality. For printed documents, use even lighting, avoid glare, and upload a sufficiently high-resolution image.

Can I edit and save the result?

Yes. Recognized text opens in an editor with line numbers, so you can fix it, copy it to the clipboard, or download it as a TXT file.

Are uploaded documents stored?

Files are sent to the backend only for recognition. For signed-in users, the text result may also appear in recognition history.

Can I recognize handwritten text?

Handwritten notes can be recognized inside mixed documents, but accuracy is lower than with printed text and depends on handwriting clarity.

How many files can I process at once?

The current version processes one file at a time. Batch recognition for multiple files is in development.

Do I need to register to use OCR?

No, recognition is available without registration. An account is only needed for recognition history and advanced features.

Is there an API for integrating OCR into my project?

Yes, Pereum provides a REST API for text recognition. Details are available on the API page with documentation, request examples, and authorization code.
